Vacancy: Academy Physical Development Coach

The ideal candidate would be responsible for leading the delivery of the Academy’s physical development program to ensure a first-class playing experience for players in the academy’s 9-16 age groups and to assist in the delivery of the Academy’s physical development program for players in the professional development phase

Some of the main tasks would include:

Offer the academy’s physical development program to players in the age groups under 9 to under 16

Work closely with the Academy’s physiotherapy department on rehabilitation, injury prevention and load management.

Oversee the implementation of the individual development plan for each player under 9 to under 16

Offer physical development programs to children under 9 to under 16

Will be required to accompany the selected teams on match days – mainly the U15 and U16 age groups

Perform all physical monitoring and evaluations of training and play for the U15 and U16 age groups

Objectively measure the physical development of U9 to U16 players through the delivery of a systematic program of data collection, interpretation and analysis through key physical performance indicators

Provide physical testing and screening to meet EPPP requirements GPS data, anthropometry, physical testing, medical screening

Support the recruitment activity by offering a program of physical tests for trialists players

Use the PMA and ensure that all necessary fitness data is recorded and maintained

Work closely with the Education department in planning and implementing the performance lifestyle program.

Liaise with staff from other departments on the development of each actor as part of the 6-12 weekly interdisciplinary review process

Contribute to the Academy’s internal CPD program and participate in all external CPDs as required by your role and maintaining your professional license

Some of the operational tasks would include:

Work independently at an agreed level and in the best interest of the Academy

Forge positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders for the benefit of the Academy

Be visible to all internal and external stakeholders and support key staff when liaising with parents at critical times

Uphold all club and academy policies by ensuring best practice in areas such as protection, health and safety and equality, diversity and inclusion across the coaching department

Live the values ​​of the Club and defend our culture to help implement the performance plan of the Academy and ultimately the vision of the Academy and the Club

The ideal candidate should have the following qualifications:

Undergraduate training in strength and conditioning or sports science

FA Child protection certificate

DBS control with prohibited children list control

UK driving license

Some desirable qualifications may include:

Postgraduate training in strength and conditioning or sports science

BASES accreditation (or in the process of accreditation)

UKSCA accreditation (or in the process of accreditation)

The ideal candidate should have the following experience:

A minimum of 2 years of experience in training young athletes

Experience working in a multidisciplinary team to support player development

Work experience in a football academy

The ideal knowledge needed for this role would include:

Understands the current Academy system and professional football culture and landscape

Has applied knowledge of EPPP standards and work practices

Understands how a long-term, holistic development program is structured

Understands the function of each facet in a multidisciplinary team in an Academy

Has demonstrated knowledge of health and safety policy and best practices

Has demonstrable knowledge of safeguard policy and best practices

Has a strong awareness of equality, diversity and inclusion
